Embracing the Joy of Delegation: How My Kitchen Remodel Changed My Perspective on Business and Life

A New Approach to a New Kitchen

I recently took on a project that was a little out of the ordinary for me: a full kitchen remodel. I decided to bring in a local, female-owned company called SheBuilds to handle everything from design to construction. It was a big shift from how I’m used to doing things, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made.

From DIY to Letting Go: A Personal Shift

For over a decade, my ex-husband and I did most projects ourselves. He was handy and enjoyed the work, so we rarely hired anyone. There were certainly benefits to that approach, but it also meant he took on a lot of stress and often put off projects until he had the time and energy. This time I made a conscious decision to do things differently, by hiring trusted professionals to lead the process, and honestly, it made the entire experience so much more enjoyable.

A Business Lesson: The Power of Delegation

As a business owner, I’ve seen firsthand how trying to do everything on your own can lead to burnout. We all have our strengths, and sometimes the best thing we can do is hand off tasks to others who are experts in those areas. Just like SheBuilds brought their expertise to my kitchen remodel, allowing me to enjoy the process and focus on what I do best, business owners can benefit from doing the same. It’s a win-win: you get to keep your sanity, and your business thrives. I believe that one of the best things you can outsource as a business owner is your bookkeeping and tax preparation, but there may be many other areas that your business could benefit from delegating.

The Happy Outcome: More Than Just a New Kitchen

Now, as the remodel nears completion, I can’t help but smile. My home is about to become a space that’s not only more beautiful and functional but also a reflection of a new approach to life and work. My kids are excited, I’m excited, and I’m grateful for the reminder that sometimes letting go is the best way to move forward. It’s made me a firm believer that delegating isn’t just about spending money—it’s about creating more joy and success for everyone involved.
Thank you to the She Builds team for making the process so easy and enjoyable along the way. I can’t wait to share the finished product with you all!
