Jenica On The Move

Hi all-

This is Dad writing again. Jenica made me a real proud pappa this morning as she has learned how to crawl forward. (she had figured out how to scoot backwards before, but that was more frustrating than useful for her). She is by no means an expert yet, but she is moving pretty good none the less. Unfortunately, mommy was working this last Saturday of tax season. But I captured a bit of it on video for her (and now everyone else too!). Jenica has been practicing her hand and leg movements for some time now, so I'm sure she is very pround of this performance as well. Grab a bowl of popcorn and pull up a chair...I made it a bit of a production (though it's only 30 sec long) :)

I feel so blessed to get to share in her achievements, even though I am far away. Thank you Rob! Just a couple more weeks 'til I get to seek her in person!

How we got here…

Some of you have noticed that we moved. Some of you know that I bought a house. Some of you know I bought the house with my kids’ dad, my “wasband” of 5 years. Yup, you read that right! Me and the ex-husband purchased a home together. No, we are not getting back together. We have totally separate living spaces and it’s been so wonderful for the kids. Here’s how it started back in December. This is a page from my journal that I was looking back on.  It was my personal writing to myself that I feel led to share, so please be kind. The holidays are definitely a challenging time for me. (I wrote this a month ago, but I’m just now finally brave enough to share it here. If you comment, please be kind.) I’ve probably taken 25 flights over the last year or so, and every time up until now I’ve thought that things would be better if the plane I was on just crashed, and I died, and Rob could collect the insurance money and hire a nice nanny to care for the kids and I could just go to heaven and be with Jesus instead of having to go through all the pain and hurt that comes with getting divorced. I know that this is completely selfish of me, and I would have never done anything to intentionally end my own life and leave my kids without a mother, but I honestly felt that death was the only way out of the situation I was in. I was not strong enough to leave my marriage, but it had become quite apparent that I was not strong enough to stay either.  Today I took off on an airplane, on one last solo trip before I become a single mom, and for the first time in over a year, I didn’t
