To say I'm proud of this girl would be an understatement. She has become an incredible reader and just finished the second grade with the scribe award for penmanship. Despite moving 3 weeks before the end of school and adding 30 extra minutes to our commute each way every day, she "finished strong"! Congratulations Jenica! You are growing into an amazing young lady.

When did life get so complicated? I thought all these gadgets and devices were supposed to make our life easier, more streamlined, less stressful… But the actual affect seems to be the opposite. I received this text message from a client of mine the other day: "Maybe I'll go back to old school ways and start a new trend of actual phone calls, face to face human interaction, and handwritten letters being delivered via post office instead of email, texting, and Facebook... "  And I thought to myself, she just might be onto something... Now trust me, I can multitask with the best of them, but last night as I was engaging in text messages with at least nine people within an hour time frame it hit me… This isn't normal. This is not how life is supposed to be lived. So in 2016, I'm intentionally choosing to put my phone down, and live my life. I invite you to come along on this journey with me. Nothing drastic. You had to know this was going to happen, right? If so saw this post from last March on the Be Photography blog, you might have had an inkling. That's my little man. 22 months old already... my how the time flies! He is a chatter box and although I can't understand most of his babble, the last week or so he's said all kinds of new words! "Go", "Thank you", and "Pease" are some of my favorites.  He's strong willed and I can tell that these toddler years are going to be challenging, but a hug and a kiss from him in the midst of the messes and tantrums makes it all worth while.  Love him to the moon and back! #kentonrobert

Tenley has so many cute sayings and expressions! I really need to start documenting them better! This is one of my favorites! It probably started over a year ago and is just so cute I haven't made an effort to correct her. To most of you, these are Q-tips. They have many uses. One of the most common is for cleaning our ears. But for Tenley, she's never called it that. She asks if she can wiggle her ears. So this adorable little almost 4 year old still asks after every shower if we can "wiggle our ears", and I just smile and say yes, and enjoy these sweet little moments of childhood that seem to pass so fast! #cherisheverymoment

Jenica finished her second season of basketball today. Her coach had some great things to say about her and the rest of her teammates and it was so fun watching them improve tremendously over last season. Here are some awesome pictures that her daddy was able to capture during her last game. She loves to get the rebound, and is pretty good at it considering she's one of the youngest - and therefore shortest - on the team. It does result in forgetting to guard her person though on occasion, but I suppose it's worth it when she get's the ball and is able to make a break for the other side of the court. She shoots! Sometimes she makes it, sometimes she doesn't. Huge improvement over last year though when she still shot underhand just to make it up high enough to reach the basket. Defense! This handsome, smiley boy is 10 months old today! He got his first tooth about 3 weeks ago, and his second one almost 2 weeks later. He's been "army crawling" for a while now, and although he gets up on his hands and knees and rocks on occasion, he's perfectly happy scooting himself around on his tummy (and pretty fast I might add!) His sisters still love him to pieces, and Jenica especially likes to "hold" him still even though he's more than half her size already! These pictures were taken with my new camera that arrived today, a Nikon D600, an upgrade from the D7000 I've been using for the last year. Although I've only taken a total of 25 photos with it, I am already in love. I was shooting at ISO 6400 for these shots, and they are still crisp and clear with hardly a hint of grain. Eventually I will upgrade to two D600 bodies and sell the D7000 (so for anyone else looking for a new/used camera, check back around this time...

One thing that I've become worse and worse at as I have become a professional photographer is taking and especially posting snapshots of my kids. I feel like every picture I put out there needs to be representative of my work, but there is so much that can be captured and remembered with a snapshot. So today I'm telling myself to get over my ego about the matter and just share with you some fun pictures of my handsome boy playing this afternoon.
