Road Trip Day 16
We woke up in Denver around 8:30 and grabbed some “to go” breakfast from the hotel lobby since full breakfast is canceled due to COVID. Thankfully the pool was open (I had called ahead to be sure) and although you were supposed to make reservations to use it, no one else was in there at 9am so we had the place to ourselves for 2 hours.
Then we showered, visited a couple parks nearby (but it was already getting HOT) and then did a little exercising in the fitness room since no one else was using it.
We had requested late check out at 1:00 so Rob could get in as much of the work day as possible before heading to the airport to return the car.
Everything went smoothly, we even got our entire own shuttle bus from the car rental drop off to our terminal (social distancing at its finest.) We were through security quickly and then had a fun little train ride to our concourse.

Every single seat on the plane was full 😬
On both flights, they said they’d be coming through the cabin to make sure everyone had a mask on. Not a seatbelt like they usually come through and check... just a mask. I guess now that there’s a deadly virus out there, seatbelts are no longer important. Lol
The clouds looked so cool from above, like giant fluffy pillows or cotton candy.
This was a cool article in one of the free magazines on the plane. I love how it says that the national parks belong to every citizen and that they are national treasures that help define America. I’m so grateful and blessed to be able to show my kids so many of these great sites.
I think Tenley has visited a total of 19 national parks or monuments so far and Jenica and Jenton have been to 15.
The Portland airport seemed like a ghost town at 8:00pm on a Tuesday. Nothing like Denver and Phoenix.
Outside waiting for my amazing friend to pick us up from the airport, we can finally take our masks off and Tenley says, “oh my face feels so free!” I can relate kiddo. That was a looooong time with a face covering on. I feel for the workers that have to wear them all day, every day. Yuck.
Kenton waiting “patiently” for our friend to get there. I joke, but in all actuality he (and the girls) were really great travelers all day today.
The kids came home to surprise gifts from our friend and a very missed kitty cat.
And we all slept happily ever after.
